Paper Bag Day is celebrated on July 12 to raise awareness about reducing plastic use and encouraging eco-friendly habits. At GoSharpener, we help students learn how switching to paper bags helps protect the planet. GoSharpener introduced students to paper bags made from recycled materials, stuck together using natural starch, and coated with plant-based husks. These bags are strong, waterproof, and fully compostable, making them a smart and sustainable alternative to plastic.

GoSharpener Paper Bag Day Campaign – Activity

To mark Paper Bag Day on July 12, GoSharpener launched a creative, eco-conscious campaign promoting sustainable alternatives to plastic. Students explored innovation through paper bags made from recycled materials, bonded with natural starch and plant-based coatings—strong, waterproof, and 100% compostable.

With the recent Oceans Day highlighting plastic’s harm to marine life, this activity encouraged urgent action. Students crafted air freshener bags using papier mache techniques.

The campaign theme: Paper + Innovation = Future-Ready Solutions.

As part of the activity, students created beautiful air freshener paper bags using a fun papier-mâché technique. They wrapped scented pulp over an inflated balloon, let it dry, then popped the balloon and poked small holes in the paper bag to let the fragrance flow.

These balloon-shaped air freshener bags not only helped freshen up homes but also made for lovely natural decorations, spreading both scent and sustainability in every corner.

Through this simple, creative activity, students learned how everyday choices—like saying no to plastic—can help build a cleaner, greener future.
