International E-Waste Day is observed every year on 14 October to spread awareness about the growing problem of electronic waste. It was started in 2018 by the WEEE Forum to encourage people, companies, and governments to recycle old electronics responsibly. E-waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the world and contains both harmful chemicals and valuable materials like gold and copper. Most e-waste is not recycled properly and ends up causing pollution or health problems. The day reminds everyone to repair, reuse, or recycle gadgets instead of throwing them away, so that resources can be recovered and the environment can be protected.
