It's time to mooooove over for Cow Appreciation Day on the second Tuesday of July! Celebrated since 2005, this holiday was created by Chick-Fil-A in order to acknowledge all the hard work cows do for us, from providing us with food and fuel, to helping promote a sustainable environment. Why should we appreciate cows?Chick-Fil-A created Cow Appreciation Day in commemoration of Heff R. Jones and his humorous "EAT MOR CHIKIN" billboard campaign that took place in 1995. In 2004, the first event was launched. It led to a fun and entertaining promotion for the restaurant. What is special about cows?Cows have a strong sense of smell. They can perceive smells at a distance of up to ten kilometres. Compared to the hearing of humans, the hearing ability of cows is better in the deep and high frequency ranges. Cows are moving constantly during grazing and can cover 13 km per day.Cows are highly sensitive, social, and unique animals who remember people who have been unkind to them. Another fascinating fact, cows have such brilliant eyesight that they can nearly see everything around them without moving their heads!Cows embody benevolence and live in harmony with those around them, only taking what they need to survive and approaching the world with a gentle curiosity. If humans approached the world in similar ways, the global environment would begin to regenerate.
