A blue and yellow macaw escaped from the Thiruvananthapuram Zoo on May 3, 2025. It escaped during feeding time when it's enclosure was opened. Zoo officials are actively searching for the bird and have asked the public to report any sightings. They hope the bird will return on it's own as it is not used to foraging food by itself. The macaw is worth around ₹4 lakh. It was seen at Observatory Hills, then on the Museum premises, zoo officials were unable to reach in time and the bird flew off. We hope for the return and well being of the bird.
